Ruscogenin
"For pharmaceutical use, Alchem offers Vinpocetine with all its inherent benefits"

Ruscogenin is a steroidal glycoside that is extracted from ruscus aculeatus (Butcher’s Broom). Ruscus aculeatus is a member of the Liliaceae family and is native to Mediterranean Europe and Africa. A variety of compounds have been isolated from ruscus aculeatus. The two primary saponin compounds are ruscogenin and neoruscogenin. The plant also contains numerous furanostanol and spirostanol saponins. In addition, a variety of flavonoids, a fatty acid mixture composed primarily of tetracosanoic acid and related compounds, chrysophanic acid, sitosterol, campesterol and stigmasterol, have been isolated from the roots.

Ruscogenin exerts its venotonic actions through an adrenergic mechanism at two levels. On the one hand, it exerts direct agonistic effects on α-1 and α-2 post-synaptic adrenergic receptors on smooth cells of the blood-vessels walls. On the other hand, it exerts indirect effects by inducing noradrenalin release from pre-synaptic neuronal storing sites. The intensity of the later effect is temperature-dependant because heat reduces receptors’ affinity for noradrenalin, thus producing vein-dilatation and characteristic symptoms, such as tired legs.

The anti-inflammatory and anti-thrombotic activities make this phytochemical useful in the treatment of peripheral vascular diseases, varicose veins, edema, haemorrhoids, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), bronchial asthma and hypotension.

The product addresses broad spectrum physiological concerns and has the band width and capabilities to meet expectations. Regular use should exhibit demonstrable results to inhibit various health related issues.
